Posted on: May 26th, 2014 by Preservation Leadership Forum Staff

Older, Smaller, Better Forum Focus CoverThe latest Preservation Green Lab report Older, Smaller, Better provides the most complete empirical validation to date of Jane Jacobs' long-respected, but largely untested hypothesis: That neighborhoods containing a mix of older, smaller buildings of diverse age support greater levels of positive economic and social activity than areas dominated by newer, larger buildings.

This Forum Focus is designed to help preservation professionals and advocates use the data in this new report to advance their own efforts to save historic places.

Preservation Leadership Forum’s Focus series presents in-depth, timely reports and guidance on innovative preservation research and practices. To obtain a PDF copy of this report from the Forum Library log on to www.preservationnation.org/forum.
